Tom Lowenstein OAM (1936–2025) was a Melbourne accountant and philanthropist who spent decades collecting Australian art, earning him the title "patron saint of Australian artists." He displayed works throughout his accountancy offices, turning his collection into both a professional showcase and a direct form of support for the artists he championed.

Lowenstein viewed himself not as an owner but as a custodian, regularly lending works to community spaces and rotating the collection to support emerging creatives. It featured hundreds of pieces by major Australian artists including John Olsen, Charles Blackman, Arthur Boyd, Margaret Olley, Rick Amor, and Mirka Mora.

Through Lowensteins Arts Management, he advised thousands of artists, musicians, and filmmakers — often accepting artworks in lieu of fees or buying work directly to sustain careers.
