Artvisory records stunning results for Inaugural single-owner auction this week

The sale of Property from Mawallok - Western District, Victoria, from the collection of Peter and Jocelyn Mitchell, broke all auction records for the sale of Antiquities in Australia.

The pre-auction total value of AUD$124,000.00 was dwarfed by the sold total of  $483,456.69 INC BP.

The collection of Roman Greek and Egyptian antiquities with excellent provenance sold for multiple times estimates, with buyers from around the world, as well as within Australia competing for the best pieces. Overall the auction was 98% sold by lot and proved once again the power of the single-owner sale concept when energetically marketed. This illustrated 3rd century Roman marble fragmentary head of Medusa sold for AUD98,295.00 to a collector in Paris. It last sold at Sotheby's in London in 1981 for 758 pounds sterling.
